In 1976, Honda implemented significant modifications to the 125s cylinder head assembly, transitioning from a single-unit design to a two-piece configuration.
While retaining the cylinder's fundamental architecture, engineers enlarged the bore diameter from 56mm to 56.5mm, resulting in increased displacement from 122cc to 124cc.
This revised 56.5mm cylinder assembly, introduced with the 1976 model year updates, maintains complete compatibility with earlier 125s motorcycles despite these technical enhancements.
